BEFORE photos of ar’ouse

Good Morning and Happy Weekend to you all!

I have been thinking about posting pictures of the house renovation for a little while now and last night I decided that today was the day to get started. Mainly for the purposes of friends and family, intrigued work colleagues and lastly but not ‘leastly’ (not a word! but it should be!) those of you from the world wide web who are ‘in to’ this kind of housey doey uppy malarky where you see it go from rags (!) …to riches *praying to my gods*.

The house was/is a complete DIY hello hole. The previous owner(s) didn’t really know what they were doing and therefore we have found many amusing botch jobs which we are taking great pride in correcting. Somehow it feels doubly good to do up a house that is in such a state that it’s hard to get it wrong!

So you nosey lot, this is it! The pictures sort of speak for themselves so I wont say much more and it’s only going to get really interesting when you start seeing the changes we make (along with a few helping hands).

If you have any tit bits of advice then comment away.

Photo 101 Day One: Home & Getting Oriented

“Home is elusive. When we think about this word, we might picture different physical locations. And while home is often found on a map, it can also be less tangible: a loved one, a state of mind.”

For the first post of Photography 101, which is all about ‘Home’ and what the word means to you, I have chosen this picture.

For me, right now, this picture signifies home. A mess. We are going through the slightly arduous yet rewarding process of doing up our first home. The house has been lived in for almost a century. Unfortunately for us, as a result of this, there are many many layers of wallpaper and it is pretty fascinating to peel each colour, each part of someone else’s life, someone else’s home. This particular section of wall has three layers (as do most parts of the house) and this section has this beautiful flower power retro style wallpaper we initially mistook for hand painted amazingness. Eventually we will replace the layers and start the cycle all over again.

I am planning to blog pictures and videos of the house renovations to help make the process even more rewarding and enlightening.
